Without a doubt, the best part of owning a successful business is the opportunity it provides us to give back to our Orange County community.
Brad and I both grew up in Orange County and when we began what is now Burgin Design • Remodel, we dreamed of being in a position to help those who need it in this area. As our family expanded with our two sons, we began by sponsoring and promoting school events, sports teams, etc. Then, as they grew up we looked for other ways to reach out and found the perfect opportunity through our own Burgin Design • Remodel family. Ruby, who is the proud mom of team members Diego and Henry, has been a part of our Burgin family for years helping with both personal and business related tasks as well as contributing to all of our company parties. In addition to being an important part of our family, Ruby is also an important part of another family through her volunteer work at the Childs-pace Foundation.
Childs-pace is a local 501(c) 3 nonprofit that began in 1978 to assist school-age children of low to moderate income families. With three locations, they provide a safe environment with a developmentally structured curriculum that supports the development of each child with opportunities to investigate, invent, and problem solve. Their hands-on program helps kids from pre-school through elementary with cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
After being introduced to Childs-pace through Ruby, we knew that this was a place where we could make a difference. In addition to donations of clothing, food, and more we began providing the Costa Mesa location with wood blocks and other materials for their own projects. We love that they share images of the kids enjoying these activities and the finished products with us.
